Concert Promotion Tips
Tips and FAQ
What platforms should live music venues advertise on?
Venues should put most of their budget into Facebook and Instagram (Meta) because that is where people go to discover local events. We also prefer Meta because it has the most data points on users and a great algorithm to find ticket buyers in a specific music genre.
How do live music venues track Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) from Meta ads?
Venues track ad sales by connecting a tracking code (called a Meta Pixel) to their online ticket site. When someone buys a ticket after clicking an ad, the system records the exact dollar amount. The venue can then compare the money spent on ads to the money made from ticket sales.
What is the average cost per ticket sold using targeted Meta conversion campaigns?
Most of our venues spend between $3.00 and $7.50 in ads for every ticket sold. This usually depends on the ticket price and how many tickets you are hoping to sell. Popular tribute bands and local favorites usually cost less to market, while lesser-known acts might take more ad money to sell tickets.
How do you accurately track ticket revenue when working with third-party ticketing platforms?
Venues use custom web links (called UTM links) and server tracking tools. When a fan clicks an ad and buys a ticket, the ticketing website sends a confirmation code back to the ad system. This ensures every sale gets counted accurately without counting the same buyer twice.
Does print advertising still work for concert promotion?
Print ads like posters and flyers can still help local people discover a show. However, you cannot track how many tickets a paper flyer actually sells. Digital ads are better for direct sales because you can track every dollar you spend.
How can I optimize my time when posting on organic social media?
- Create in Batches: Set aside one block of time each week to make all your video clips and post graphics at once.
- Schedule Ahead: Use free tools like Meta Business Suite to schedule all your posts.
How do you make profit with paid Meta ads?
- Full Capacity: 500 tickets x $30 = $15,000 in ticket sales
- Stuck at Low Capacity: 100 tickets x $30 = $3,000 in ticket sales
- The High-Yield Trade: Investing $2,000 in Meta ads to return $12,000 in ticket sales (6x ROAS).
- You now went from $3k in sales to $15k in sales, spending $2k in ads so you ended up on $13k in sales after ad costs.
How much money should I spend on ads to promote a concert?
If you goal is to sell out a venue, a good rule of thumb is to start with 10-15% of your total expected ticket sales on ads. If you have a $50 ticket have 500 ticket capacity ($50x500 = $25,000 total ticket revenue). 10% of that is $2500.
For the above example, $2500 in paid ads is a good starting point to have a goal to sell out that venue.
